Have only listened to the first half so far. Sort of tuned in and out of the block constructed talk since it’s a format only relevant to modo but it set up the talk about conflux pretty well.
Haven’t played any block but its pretty obv Espleth is the card to get. Its already very good in type 2 and will get harder and harder to get.
So happy to hear some other people that aren’t crazy over nicol bolas. That said you sort of glossed over the casting cost differences between Cruel and Bolas but I think the colored cost is a big difference because you can play bolas in more traditional 2 colored control decks (with grixis lands and perhaps 2 vivids) rather than five color.
Or you could play it in the same deck as demigod, with just a blue splash.
Interesting neither of you seem that fussed about attending the large pre release. Makes me think it wont be that big because I know ace guys are motivated by prizes so they will prolly prefer going to Ipswich, Nundah. Mind games and Ace (with all these stores supposed to be getting more prize support from Wizards this time). |

Yeah the Big prerelease doesn't really appeal to me without some big prize events. I guess if I'm backing myself to win the whole thing I might as well go for a prerelease where coming first matters.
That being said, if there was a single flight where prizes were top-heavy at Mike's prerelease, I'd be there for sure, just for the atmosphere created by having lots of people.
I'm sure it will be big-ish though, Mike probably still has a lot of player contacts, and was always better at promoting than other stores were. _________________ Support Paper-Gamer.com

He is offering drafts with top heavy prizes ... hopefully they fire.
Mike will get all the people that haven't played for 6 months....but the pre releases were getting smaller and smaller and Mikes database isn't getting new names on it every week like it used too.
Previously some of the small sets attendance were so so and now with the ace regulars not attending and prolly not people from the sunshine coast..... well i just hope I am wrong and he keeps doing pre releases.
But then I looked at the schedule and wasn't that excited about it. Thought to myself if I really want to play with new cards I could wait a week and have much cheaper drafts.
I think he dropped the ball on not having one event that would have appealed to the same people that the PTQ appealed too but then at most pre releases the win a box event wasn't that well attended.
Without Levi and Andrew is it really an event |
